NAME OF ROLE
Business Support Manager (working from home on a contract basis)

PURPOSE OF ROLE
To ensure the smooth and effective management and continued development of our key business support functions – finance, marketing administration, sales and lead development support.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • manage our key business support functions –marketing administration, sales and lead development support and finance, working with our accountants and MD
  • Producing and maintaining cash-flow forecast/actual spread sheet for monthly discussion. Includes responsibility for alerting the MD to any factors that may threaten the policy of maintaining a positive cash-flow buffer of 3 months
  • Working with our chosen web hosting partners, help us build, maintain and grow a Sensei UKE e-community validated against our digital strategy and manage the process of preparing UKE contributions to the Sensei website.
  • Develop/maintain the UKE sales and marketing process, including:
    • Manage, maintain and grow the UKE relationship database in our chosen CRM system
    • Execute and help build the quality and content of our relationship ‘keep in touch’ tactics
    • Build, develop and execute monthly marketing plans in line with the Sensei Marketing strategy
  • Contribute to the operational management of the business as a core team member and lead some of the resulting activities as appropriate.
  • Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of our ‘front of house’ image and behaviours, ensuring the interface with potential and new clients is in line with our brand values and creates the image we need to build equity value in the Sensei UKE brand.
  • Interface with Sensei International colleagues and provide a single point of contact for the UKE / International business and admin support teams.   

PERFORMANCE MEASURES

  • Monthly management reports produced accurately and on time
  • Cash management – we maintain 3 month positive horizon
  • Generate new relationships to fuel our sales funnel from the digital strategy in line with business plan requirements
  • Excellent colleague feedback
  • Levels of ‘click through’ and ‘unsubscribe’ activity on website improve with time
  • Google analytics metrics progressively improve over time

Reports to: Managing Director, Number Direct Reports: 0 Total number reporting: 0

BUDGET ACCOUNTABILITY

  • You will be responsible for the control of:
    • Our marketing and sales budget c£25k in 2011/2012
    • Finance and Business administration c£20k in 2011/2012

 

SCALE: FINANCIAL

  • Directly responsible for: 3rd party contractors who support our sales and marketing processes
  • Indirectly responsible for, or has significant impact on: Business development, sales administration and financial reporting with MD and our Accountants

COMPLEXITY

  • You are joining a growing international business
  • You need to be capable of virtual team working and happy to work unsupervised
  • We are looking to create new market spaces for our Sensei brand to operate within
  • In addition to your role we have two new core team members joining this year

KEY EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

You will have:

  • bbb Proven Sales and Marketing experience in a professional service firm
  • A passion for web based marketing and a proven capability in leveraging Social Media
  • Basic financial management experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with highly developed working knowledge of all the relevant Microsoft Office applications
  • Exceptionally high standards and attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Real energy and enthusiasm and can demonstrate you can be proactive and creative
  • The personal discipline to work effectively in a virtual home office environment.

Hours of work: There are no fixed hours - results count not time – however we envisage this will be a flexible role taking no less than 4 days per week with cover and availability during usual office hours each week.

Place of work: There is no fixed place of work and you will be expected to have a fully equipped home office to work in and be totally comfortable and disciplined with home working. You will be required to travel to our monthly business development meetings as appropriate.

Package:  You will an independent contractor and we are looking to award a contract for at least 1 year. A contract payment of between £2.0k and £2.5k per month is on offer for the right candidate. In addition, all reasonable business related expenses incurred in carrying out your role will be covered, and you will be eligible for a performance bonus linked to overall business performance. This will be awarded at the discretion of the directors of the company and can be up to 25% of the contract value.
